There is no better buffet for breakfast than Choices. It is not just about the food – it’s so much more. It’s how cheerful the people are, and how welcome they make you feel at the restaurant. It’s not just about eating, but it’s the whole experience that I had at Choices that makes me say so. You can see everyone smiling, and happy – from the General Manager who I met in casual clothes to the chef, and all of them – just calm, happy, and infectiously cheerful.
The message at Choices for breakfast is Eat healthy, I believe because as soon as you enter there is a juicing station with all the fresh fruits you could possibly find. They even have a really cute recipe put together, and you could choose from that or put together your own creation to try.
You then have your typical cereal section where you can find all sorts of cereals from your typical cornflakes to diet flakes.
We then have the cold cuts which is followed by salads, and a wide variety of flavored yogurts.
There was a live saj station where they would make it with your favorite filling.
There was then a wide variety of eggs to choose from – both made per order, and also your typical sunny side ups, soft-boiled eggs, and hard boiled eggs.
The typical Arabic breakfast items, followed by some Indian treats, Asian dishes and then your typical waffles, and pancake selection with a wide variety of syrups, and condiments.
Not to mention the bakery section is a world on its own!
The breakfast buffet in itself is enough to last you the whole day.
It was a real privilege when the Executive Chef Jed Archdeacon gave me a personal tour of the buffet.
Here’s what the chef had to say about the change that is coming.
“In terms of decoration I like healthy, I like fresh. Everything needs to look live, not like just a business hotel, and restaurant. He wants to leave the wow impression on diners.”
He has travelled to a lot of places, and gets inspired by everything. Cooking to him is a creative process – it’s always about generating fresh ideas. He really likes the Middle East – he is in the process of bringing some exciting changes to the dining experience. Young luxury is what the dining experience at Oryx Rotana is going to evolve into.
“As time goes on we will keep growing; It’s been less than 2 weeks since I have been here, and there’s already a lot of changes.”, he says. He says he wants all the diners to leave with an impression nothing short of WOW.
True to his word, I could feel it since the last time I dined at Choices – Things were starting to feel and look a lot different already, and the vibes are definitely fresh, healthy, and so inviting.

Cooking that is aesthetically an art, and techniques that are more than the mere traditional kind is something that you will experience once you dine there.
