A Day at Jumeirah Beach Residence | Amwaj Rotana

The next stop as part of our road trip from Abu Dhabi was Dubai. For those of you who missed out on the previous writeup to the road trip, head to Beach Rotana

It was a really tough decision to make – Where do we stop in Dubai? There’s too many Hotels to choose from. There’s too many good ones to choose from. There’s too many Rotana’s to choose from. When Amwaj Rotana showed up on the list, we knew it was a decision we wouldn’t regret, and hence we went for it.

Location wise, Amwaj Rotana is all-stars being situated along the famous restaurant and retail strips “The Walk” , and “The Beach” at Jumeirah Beach Residence. From high-rise towers, and all glam roads when you enter Amwaj, there is something calming, and relaxing that makes you forget the fact that you came in from a really busy city. The Lobby is very beautiful, and the colors are very soothing.

The check in to the hotel was so smooth right from the valet to the reception. There wasn’t any waiting that we had to deal with, and the staff were overly friendly, and gave us a brief description of how we could reach them anytime if we needed anything. We were then introduced to George who lead us to our room.

George showed us all the amenities in the room from how to open the balcony door, how to get the towels changed, and to where the complimentary teas, and coffees were placed. Every small amenity in the room was explained to great detail including the fact that the toilet had speakers, and you could listen to whatever was being played in the room. Not a single detail was missed.

I love that you always have a complimentary fruit basket waiting for you when you check into the room which is replenished the next day. A kind reminder asking you to try, and eat healthy even though you know you want to gorge in at all the fabulous restaurants around you.

As soon as I settled into the room, I received a welcome mail in my inbox sharing all the valuable info I would need during my stay at Amwaj. There is always a welcome message on the room televisions.

The view from our room was quite stunning, and will get even better once the construction in front is completed.”What’s being constructed there?” was obviously my first question when I saw that! The Dubai Eye which will be  even bigger than the London Eye. So, I really need to wait and see what that is going to be like.

After we settled into the room, George gave me a tour of all their restaurants – Rosso, Benihana, JB’s, Horizon, and Atrium. He made it a point to mention that Rotana being an Arabic brand tried to inculcate the Arabian Heritage, and influence from their designs to service. If you pay close attention to details, you won’t miss noticing them for sure.

Our one, and only dining stop during our stay was at Horizon – the all day-dining restaurant with international cuisine, and buffet to choose from.  As it was Ramadan during my stay, the cuisine highlighted a lot of Arabic and Emirati dishes. What I found really interesting, and brought out the kid in me while dining there was that they had ice lollies / ice creams in the freezer -the stick ones for Iftar.

We chose to have room service for Suhoor, and we have to say the spread was massive. The spread for suhoor is what you would have for a regular breakfast. So, the menu items were really similar. The lines that say you should have breakfast like a king is very well catered to by Amwaj Rotana’s breakfast.

Too sad that I was there only for a day, so the time I could spend there wasn’t a lot but, definitely something I would love to go back to.

Amwaj Rotana has 301 sea view rooms to choose from. The Club Rotana rooms come with extra add-ons compared to the normal rooms, and suites which was something I discovered only when at Amwaj inspite of having gone to quite a few Rotanas.

The Hotel is conveniently located really close to the beach, and you can easily walk over to the beach without even going on the roads. They also provide a cool beach kit that you can take along with you. The term ‘Amwaj’ in Arabic means Waves. You can see it all over the restaurant – the way the waves have been instilled into the interiors of the Hotel, and the exterior; As close to the beach the Hotel is, you might be thinking that I might have spent all day at the beach. But, no it was too hot to even be outside let alone capture pictures. Every time I stepped out my camera lens turned foggy, and this was the outcome.

The Hotel had a salon which was undergoing renovation while I was there. The gym is a great place to work out as it offers such stunning views while you exercise. If you are looking for a great massage, and some me-time, you can head over to Body Lines which is the spa there.

I had a wonderful time talking with Lamia in the morning about all things life, and travel. Amidst our talks she informed me that there is an exotic destination where Rotana is spreading its wings to soon which is also on my bucket list. Curious to know where? This is it!! I can’t wait to fly there, and see what this one looks like!

The Restaurants in the Hotels are quite beautifully set, and ones worth seeing. As it was Ramadan, I was unable to dine there. However, I did manage to capture some great pictures, and had a walk through them.

Rosso – the Italian restaurant, and one where I spotted a Vespa for the first time ever which I did mention on my instagram a couple of days ago.

Benihana which I even mentioned during my stay at Beach Rotana was here as well.

This last picture was shot at JBs where they had the restaurant adorned with Flags of participating teams from the Euro Cup.

Another commendable thing about Rotana is their staff. They always pay attention, notice, care, and smile. And, I have a line that is very much reserved for Rotana – Folks who treat you like family.

On another note, did you know that the Rotana Group has an initiative  called the Rotana Earth which aims at implementing practices to contribute to a more greener world. As part of this, you can find little details in your room on how to change/reuse towels, fruit facts, and fruit baskets.

Before, I knew the clock had ticked out, and it was time to check out of the hotel. The check out process was as smooth as the check-in. So easy!

Would you like to experience what I did? Book your room here! Have you stayed at Amwaj? If not, where did you stay in Dubai? Is there a particular Hotel that you recommend?

Would I go back if I had the chance? Yes, of course!

Disclaimer: I was a guest at Amwaj Rotana. However, all pictures other than those credited for, and opinions are genuinely from my experience.

Blue skies and green leaves -
Naturally beautiful just like you!
Where social media feeds us with the latest launches and must-haves everyday, it sometimes becomes hard to remember what we are blessed with.
A reminder to myself first 🙂
This Ramadan let us take time to reflect on how blessed we are, and how grateful we need to be for having being blessed with so much from clean water to safe homes - the needs which a lot of people are not priveleged to. 🏡🏡🚿🚿💧💧🇶🇦🇶🇦

Look, ladies, there's going to be a bunch of people/memes/articles/sheikhs/etc telling you that you can't do it. That you should take it easy. That they get it, your kids are young, your body is weak, your kitchen is small and your family is big, your life is HARD, you simply cannot achieve your worship goals so don't even try, its okay, there, there, pat, pat.
I'm here to tell you the exact opposite. I'm here to tell you: Yes You Can. I'm here to tell you that yes your life is is tough but you are tougher. I'm here to remind you that you push yourself all year. I see it. I see your willpower. And your strength. Your stubborn refusal to give in to all the difficult, trying circumstances of your life.
You are a champion.
And champions don't give up right before the actual race starts!
All year, we build ourselves emotionally and physically for Ramadan. THIS is the main event. This is where you get to test the mettle for yourself where all year you've been testing it for others.
Ramadan is for YOU. So get up. Push yourself. Set lofty targets and work your behind off trying to reach them. The pleasure is in the reaching. In the striving. NOT in the achieving. The achieving and assessment of achieving, we leave it to Him. That's not our business. We just keep ourselves busy trying.Don't NOT try because some one (a man probably) thinks you don't have it in you.
You do.Words as picked up from Drama Mama
