High rise towers, cafes, malls, and beach all in one place – that is the kind of place you get into when you stay at the Movenpick Jumeirah Beach Residence. This wasn’t my first time there. Last year around July, I happened to stay at Amwaj Rotana. The weather in both cases (April this year or July last year) wasn’t exactly what I wanted to venture outside, and see what the area offered. Hence, during my stay at the hotel, I just decided it was better to laze around, get plenty of rest. That, and meet some of my favorite travellers at the Arab Travel Market that was happening at the Dubai Convention and Exhibition Centre.
It was quite a tiring time for us – the weather, the distance, the schedule – we were really tired when we were checking into the hotel. As soon as we got in, there was this really relaxing vibe the lounge had – the colors, and the ambiance was so soothing.
Although there was a slight misaddressing issue throughout my stay where I was always addressed as Mr. Khansa instead of Mrs. , that didn’t deter me from enjoying the experience that the hotel offered.
The Room at Movenpick JBR
Having left a studio apartment at Centro Barsha, I wasn’t expecting a massive room to check into. Well, that’s just me, I normally do not expect a lot because sometimes pictures do not tell anything about what you actually get. If I keep my expectation low, then whatever I experience tends to be way more than my expectations making me grateful for what I receive. However, the room here exceeded my expectations.
The room was quite spacious and included a small kitchenette, dining space, guest toilet, the living area, bedroom, a bathroom with stand alone bath tub, and 2 balconies – one in the living room, and one in the bedroom. Both had really amazing view, and we got such a gorgeous view of the sunset whilst we stayed there in the hotel.
The welcome scene of our room was nothing short of decadent. It was a beautiful spread, and this time I was prepared for what was amidst the spread as welcome drink – Bateel sparkling date juice since I had this surprise last year while I stayed at Beach Rotana
That, and a surprise spread on the bed. It was a lovely gesture from the Hotel – one that I will truly remember.
We spent a couple of minutes during our stay at this little seating area while we waited for the elevator. So, it deserved to make an appearance on this post 🙂
Executive Lounge at Movenpick JBR
Our room was high up on the 20th floor which was an executive floor. This meant we had access to the Executive lounge on the 21st floor which was just a floor up. As soon as we reached it was time for afternoon tea, so we stopped by to get some bites, and also enjoy the view the lounge sit-outs faced.
Dining at Movenpick JBR
I only got the opportunity to dine at 2 of the outlets while I was there. We had dinner at Soul on the first eve of our stay. The details in Soul are very artsy – the cuisine – a mix of American, and Italian. The vibes were a similar mix too.
Some of the dishes like the the beef tartare was prepared right by our seat, and not to mention, it was really delicious.
We were really full by the time we were done with mains that we didn’t have space for dessert. The team was really kind enough to send it to our room – Baked Alaska.
My favorite restaurant however, was The Talk – the all day-dining restaurant. I loved how sunlight came right in to the restaurant, and the seats were as colorful as it could be.
The breakfast spread was quite endless – their little healthy shots was a speciality. I loved how much beverage variety they had from smoothies to fresh juices, to milk, and a really cute Masala Tea corner
Every time I see pancakes, nutella, peanut butter somewhere together , I will make sure to make me some sinfully delicious dish of my own.
On one of the days we opted in to have breakfast in the room, and that decision was a great one. The spread looked so good, and the food was fresh, colorful, and delicious.
The hotel also takes pride in amazing chocolate, and chocolate offers. However, I did not get the time to try it out during my stay. Finding a reason to go back! 😉
This was a gist of my experience at Movenpick JBR. It was my first time at a Movenpick hotel, and I know that it definitely won’t be my last.
